IMPORTANT

As of January 1, 1998, there are dramatic changes in what are now the Homestead Laws for Texas. Before 1998, a homeowner could only borrow against the equity in his/her home with definite restrictions – NOT for college tuition, medical, etc. As of 1/1/98, this has changed and Texas joined the rest of the states in permitting home equity loans for any purpose.
